caught in a swirl

A swirl looks like this a swirl is not your friend it walks beside you, though sometimes it is inside you it makes you feel bad, useless, hopeless a swirl sucks you into a vortex of fear, or anger, or both it's like a virus, airborne, seeking a host body. Sucked down, helpless in its grip, you feel there's no escape, and you are distressed and disturbed. Why you? other people don't seem afflicted in this way. Is it something you've done, or not done.......do you feel ashamed? Is that it? Your head feels full of pressure and empty of thoughts however that awful feeling, that state of mind, might be a comfort because you know it so well, it's so familiar, because of that maybe you don't want to give up the swirl just yet.
A swirl looks like this A swirl feels like this Have you experienced despair, loneliness, sadness and the sensation of being greatly diminished? And have you found yourself in an internal space where you are rendered helpless? These are our thoughts on a common painful experience. Our name for these negative states is swirls. Swirls is our name for the experience for being caught up in despair, anxiety, anguish, distress and isolation. There seems to be no escape. It is very dark and there is no way out. I am trapped.
Is the swirl derived from a useful alarm system eg primitive man’s warning of danger OR the child’s compliance with a parent’s real or imagined wishes,  stifling natural feelings, so that a conflict is established between ‘natural’ expression, which would be functional, and ‘learned’ or artifice behaviours  or ‘false  self’  which become disfunctional behaviours  convictions,  beliefs and attitudes   Initial logical/valid/true reaction becomes illogical/invalid/false in another context and therefore dysfunctional. Hypothesis: 1  false self might arise as a consequence of a swirl or a defence against it. Hypothesis: 2  My fixed idea (or position) will lead me into a swirl if the idea isn’t working for me.  So, any real change requires an observing ego (functions like a supervisor) through which an alternative position might be seen or, putting it another way, requires the shift of position (or perspective)...
